Workshop

About

https://www.rsb.org.uk/events?event=minutetaking

This one-day workshop will help you to ensure that the minutes or notes you take at meetings are clear, accurate and professional.

It will provide you with essential skills for each stage of the process: understanding the meeting, working with the chair, preparing the agenda, developing listening techniques, recording the meeting, distilling key points, and structuring and writing up the minutes.

Examples of good and bad minutes will help you to avoid common mistakes and follow best practice. Carefully designed exercises will enable you to develop your skills and confidence.

After the course you will benefit from a year of free support from your tutor, to help you continue to build your skills and confidence.

The learning style of this course will be ‘hands on' and interactive, therefore capacity is limited to 15 places which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Booking Deadline: 15 February

Trainer
Stephen Lloyd has worked with words since 1986. He began his career as a journalist, working for a number of national publications and in BBC Radio. From there he moved into consultancy, writing a range of corporate documents, including reports, proposals, press releases, marketing materials and recruitment literature.

Becoming increasingly involved in publishing, Stephen developed the skills of editing and proofreading. He worked with a variety of publishers, including the careers and education specialists Hobsons. Later he spent seven years as senior tutor at a leading publishing training organisation, before founding Stephen Lloyd Training in 2003. In 2008, Stephen was nominated for the Legal Education & Training Group's “Trainer of the Year” Award. Today Stephen passes on his wide experience through specialist courses in the skills of writing, editing and proofreading.
