On Saturday 11th we will be opening the hives and making our first harvest of honey. Come and join us for this historic moment, and be one of the first to taste the honey! You will learn and be involved in the entire extraction process from removing the supers, de-capping the honey comb, using the centrifugal honey extractor, and finally filtering and jarring the honey. Any questions you have during the day will be answered by our resident bee keeping expert Kev.
This course is suitable for anybody who wants to experience a honey harvest.
Protective beekeeping suits and gloves will be provided but please wear long-sleeved clothing, long trousers, and wellies or sturdy boots. Please do not wear perfume, aftershave or scented hair product, drink alcohol, eat a banana, or work with horses on the day. If you wear reading glasses, please bring them.
As we will be opening the hives we will have to limit the course to three spaces and we expect it to fill up quickly.
Please book the course through our website at
The course costs £20
