Wandsworth Composting Project

We're aiming to make composting easier for people in London Borough of Wandsworth! As well as offering support around the conventional 'cool' composting of garden waste, we're exploring how to make usable compost from food waste using wormeries and 'hot' composting bins.

Worms across Wandsworth!

On Sunday 25th we shared some of our compost worms at Tooting Community Garden with our friends at Putney Community Gardens.Charlotte and Nina cycled over to select, collect and shepherd these worms back to Putney: it's a poignant story! -"After years of searching for their dream house, Bob and Ronda Wriggler, a young worm couple from Transition Town Tooting have finally found a place to call home: a sleek multistory complex in the heart of Putney Community Gardens. Why the move? "Life in Tooting was just getting too crowded and we wanted more space” says Ronda. Their new pad boasts 4 stories, a newly renovated kitchen and ample room to raise their 56348754873 children. It also has enough toilets for everyone “Due to our profession, we need to be close to a lavatory at all times, and this wormery does not disappoint” Yesterday, the 25th of June, they packed their bags and boarded the TupperWare Express, ready for their new life. In the coming years, they aim to exponentially grow the family business of Organic Waste Processing inc. If you feel so inclined, you can bring them a houseworming gift by dropping off your organic waste. On these hot summer days, Ronda loves any juicy fruit and veg remnants to keep her and the family hydrated. They do have a few allergies – including, onions, shallots, leaks, garlic, bread, meat and dairy. Congratulations Bob and Ronda and welcome to the neighborhood!"More pictures on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PutneyCommunityGardens/ and https://www.facebook.com/tootingcommunitygarden/More on composting and sharing between community gardeners and home gardeners in Wandsworth borough: Wandsworth Composting Project (& why bother!) at https://goo.gl/ykFF59Pollinator Paths Wandsworth community project linking gardeners across the borough: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PollinatorPathsWan...
