Event Description

On 24 March 2011, during Climate Week, Waste Watch will be holding a major conference in London.

What’s the Big Idea?
Communities across the UK are already playing a leading role in driving social change, particularly when it comes to sustainability.

As we grapple with the challenges of climate change and over-consumption of the world’s natural resources, communities are turning their own visions of a sustainable society into reality.

The conference will bring together business, government, community groups and schools to find ways of further unlocking the potential for communities to bring about The Big Green Society.

What will the conference achieve?
Our conference will:
show what community empowerment means in practice
explore how organisations can create the conditions in which communities are able to flourish, even when faced with budget cuts
showcase real-life examples of how this has already been achieved.
