Transition Town Wimbledon – Energy Group
“The Energy Challenge”
Presentation on Peak Oil and future energy trends
As consumers, we have grown accustomed to an ever-widening range and complexity of technological solutions. But as well as constraints on carbon emissions, we will very soon need to face up to declining production of oil, later coal and then gas.
This presentation seeks to explain why we find it difficult to discuss Peak Oil. As well as suggesting some scenarios, it concludes that we have not grasped the sheer urgency of replacing fossil fuels and how the future of energy supplies is deeply interwoven with the financial system and its expectations for growth.
Speaker: Chris Jones
Chris is Chartered Environmentalist, engineer and long-standing commentator on peak oil. He recently featured on BBC Radio 4’s “iPM” in an interview with Eddie Mair.
