The Garden - Film screening at Coin Street Neighbourhood Film Club This Friday 18th May  7pm

From the ashes of the L.A. riots arose a lush, 14-acre community garden, the largest of its kind in the United States. Now bulldozers threaten its future. 'The Garden' is a documentary exploring the struggle between urban farmers, the City of Los Angeles and a powerful developer.

The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2009. The Coin Street neighbourhood centre will be open from 7pm for snacks, wine and soft drinks (included in the £4 ticket price ) and the film will start at 7.30pm. Please contact Laura Reynolds for more information on 020 7021 1600 or email helpdesk@coinstreet.org

If you’re a community grower in Lambeth, come along to a course of free training and workshops Incredible Edible Lambeth is offering this summer. See the schedule here, IEL training and workshops 2012

  • share your expertise on growing and tell us what you want to know
  • explore opportunities to generate income from growing
  • network with others involved in community growing

The sessions are participatory and led by the needs of the group. Fiona and Draeyk are facilitating the sessions and are experienced trainers in horticulture and food/community working. We’ll also have special guests, and employ the expertise and experience of the group.

You can dip in and out of the course. Feedback and content will be posted on the IEL blog after each session.

Grab this super-inspiring edition of the Food Programme on fermentation and preserving while on i-player for another week or so.

the fermentation revival

What can we do in Lambeth with adding value to crops? Let's add to the biodiversity of the intestinal flora too! Slow food, nutritious food.
