The Keeper's Lodge Project is a wonderful new community project on the site of Kennington Park Keeper's Lodge. We are working with the Friends of Kennington Park.

We are currently constructing a large timber out building which will provide a space to facilitate our beekeeping operations. This structure will be used as an educational resource, providing a space to hold Beekeeping demonstrations and training sessions for the Capital Bee project. The site will also be open to the public for events and information.

We have around 5 beehives currently on the site. We have already held open days where we have hosted beekeeping demonstrations, these events were attended by over 70 people. We have held a similar workshop for a local SEN School (Kennington Park Children’s Centre).  This group have also been using the Bee Lodge garden for a growing project.

The building will be constructed with an eco dimension - it will have a living roof, sustainable materials and in the long term we will install renewable energy sources.

We have already started the works and have removed the old dilapidated garage and a hard standing which was for another out building. We have also layed the concrete foundation, next stage is to erected the free standing timber structure of the building.

This environmental community project is staffed voluntarily and is under resourced. We need as much support as possible.

If you would like to volunteer and pass on your skills or develop new skill then please get in touch.
