Next meeting - Christmas Drinks, Mon 19 Dec 2011 at the Alexandra pub, Wimbledon

 Christmas Drinks

Come and join the Wimbledon Food Group on Mon 19 December at the Alexandra pub (back bar) in Wimbledon (next door to the library) at 7.15pm. Look for the vegetable on the table!

The group is for anyone interested in growing their own food in Wimbledon - either helping in our community gardens, helping with Abundance fruit picking next summer or getting involved in other ways. We also want to hear about what else is happening on the food growing front in Wimbledon and any ideas you might have for projects......Or just come and have a chat with us and a drink!

Also, please do join up (see on the right) and feel free to start discussions on what is happening around Wimbledon or anything you like. If you would like to receive email updates from us, contact wimbledonfoodgroup@gmail.com.

Fireplace Garden

We've just completed our first growing season at our  'Fireplace Community Garden', growing lots of fruit and veg over the summer and now planting more for the winter! Have a look at our video of early progress and the latest photos on our blog on  Wimbledon Food Group website. See also our Project Dirt page and keep up to date with gardening sessions by joining it (clink on the link above). We're there most sundays and sometimes during the week - contact us beforehand to check.

Christchurch Garden

Come and help us in Wimbledon's second community garden, the Christchurch Community Garden. The garden is next to Christchurch West Wimbledon, on the corner of Copse Hill and Cottenham Park Road. We're there most sundays and tuesdays - please check beforehand. Join our Project Dirt page and keep up to date with gardening sessions by clicking the above link.

Sustainable Food for Merton

Wimbledon Food Group, as part of Sustainable Merton, is helping to coordinate all the food-growing spaces in Merton- working closely with Capital Growth, who are funding the Fireplace and ChristChurch gardens. Click on the link above to see our Project Dirt page.

Abundance Wimbledon

We worked closely with other organisations in Wimbledon to pick surplus fruit this summer/autumn and held a very successful fruit pressing event and other related activities in September. We are starting to plan to do the same next year. Join us on this Project Dirt page too.

Green Coffee

Come along to the Green Coffee morning - on the first Tuesday of each month from 9.30-11 at Piaf on Wimbledon Hill Road, opposite the library. This is the place to meet up with others wanting to make Wimbledon a happier, healthier, more sustainable place. Have a coffee and exchange ideas.

I've updated our page with links to our different gardens and other projects - hope it makes it easier to follow our different activities - join the various projects you're interested in to hear about gardening sessions etc. Tell other people too!
