Making environmental change happen

Wandsworth Council

Welcome to the Wandsworth page on Project Dirt.

In Wandsworth, we take being green very seriously. The borough is a hive of environmental activity - we're going to keep adding projects to the map as we learn about them. The aim of this page is to help you find out about what other people are getting up to, swap ideas and learn from each other.

Green Initiatives

Our Greener Borough initiative was set up as an umbrella for all the different things we do to encourage people to be more environmentally friendly. Click the link above to see everything. Here are just some of them:

  • Green Pledge - People in Wandsworth have been making Green Pledges since 2007. By pledging to make a small change in their daily lives - such as taking the bus to work instead of the car – Green Pledgers are saving hundreds of tonnes of carbon every year. Some randomly chosen Pledgers have had the luck to win the occasional Green Pledge Prize Draw, too. Prizes have included restaurant vouchers, theatre tickets and recycled glassware.
  • Go Green Plus offers free support to small businesses to green their workplaces. For information see their website or visit their page on Project Dirt.
  • Green Champions Awards - Rewards individuals, groups and schools that make a special effort to be green. Find out more on the link above or the Project Dirt page.
  • Sun Power: Cash is available to householders who install solar panels on their homes. Under the government scheme, any energy generated by the panels - including that which you use - receives a payment.
