TRANSITION TUFNELL PARK is one of the latest groups to join the already thriving transition communities all over the UK and around the world. There are about 350 other Transition initiatives across the UK, more than 1000 around the world and over 40 in London, including our neighbours in Kentish Town, Highbury, Hamstead, Stoke Newington, Crouch End, Finsbury Park, Hackney, Kings Cross and Belsize Park.

We currently have a growing group, and energy group, transport projects, a secret garden, launch of a new local market, awareness raising events, green pub quizes and much more!

We meet the second week of every month so if you'd like to get involved email
transition.tufnell.park@gmail.com

Info

The Transition Town model follows 12 steps. We're currently on steps 2 and 3:

1. Set up a steering group

2. Awareness raising - This stage will identify the key allies, build crucial networks and prepare the community in general for the launch of your Transition initiative - films, talks, articles, presentations in exciting groups are great resources!

3. Lay the foundations - This stage is about networking with existing groups and activists, making clear to them that the Transition Town initiative is designed to incorporate their previous efforts and future inputs by looking at the future in a new way.

4. Organise a Great Unleashing
5. Form sub groups
6. Use Open Space
7. Develop visible practical manifestations of the project
8. Facilitate the Great Reskilling
9. Build a bridge to Local Government
10. Honour the elders
11. Let it go where it wants to go...
12. Create an Energy Descent Plan

HI Ollie

We are already on there http://www.transitionnetwork.org/initiatives/tufnell-park Looking forward to meeting you at the Green Quiz. Have you told Rose you'd like a place? We've booked two tables of 6 and there are a few places left if you want to book one?

Hi, I know I have yet to make a meeting. But should ttp be on this -http://www.transitionnetwork.org/initiatives/map- make you easier to find? or is that under way. Coming to the quiz for sure. Also very interested in draught busters. Would be up for getting them up from Brixton to tell us how it is done.
"TTB Community Draught Busters is a new social enterprise based at the TTB Community Shop, 6 Granville Arcade (Brixton Village), Coldharbour Lane, SW9 8PR. They have stocks of cheap draught busting, insulation and other energy saving materials. They can help you organise Draught Busting Saturdays in your community." http://transitiontowns.org/Brixton/Reskilling

Calling all Permaculturalists, Transitioners
& Visionaries of a sustainable future.

London Permaculture Festival 2011- are looking for representatives from London's Transition initiatives to join the steering group, which will plan and commission next year's event. We're starting early, so we can
really make the festival as dynamic and inclusive as possible. Come along
to the meeting to offer your expertise & support, and please let others know who may be interested.
Last year’s event was a roaring success, attracting a capacity house of over 900 people. Next year promises to be even better.
Be a part of building a positive, sustainable vision for London.
Everyone welcome.
Our first meeting is on Tuesday, 14th December at 7-9pm
(or come at 6pm and bring some food to share).
Cecil Sharp House,
2 Regents Park Rd
London

Oh forget to mention:

Sunday 12th December at 11.00am we are having our Estate Tree Planting day!

We are working with 'The London Orchard Project' and will be planting 6 unusual apple trees on the day.

We would like to invite as many people to come along and have a go at planting a tree - Also feel free to bring along, Mulled wine, Cider or Apple juice as it is all supposed to be a bit of a celebration!

I would be most grateful if you could spread the word about. It will also be a great opportunity to come and meet Katherine from our TRA, and others too.

Right off to go and put some posters up for it now!

Hopefully see you guys there!

Rich

Hi Richard

thanks so much for letting us know about this! It's such a shame that it's on the same evening as our meeting. We have Alex coming to talk to us so I probably won't be able to get to the House on the Rock. If you are going, perhaps you could mention TTP if you get a chance?

Hope to see you soon, I will come along to see the estate plans on 15th!
Terry
