About

Friends of Aston Brickyard Plantation is a volunteer community group managing and conserving a 9 acre woodland and grassland site on the edge of Aston on Trent village. Our Greggs project is to create a wildlife pond and a wildflower meadow using native species of seeds and bulbs. Over the past four years we have removed many over-crowded self-set trees, planted 350+ native species, created paths, trails and glades for walkers and families, established bee, bat and reptile habitats and built a large butterfly bank which has tripled the number of butterfly species - including rare ones. We work with the local; school and youth groups to raise the profile of green environments and envourage interest in conservation
