About the opportunity

Education, Gardening, Parks & Open Spaces, Volunteering

We are in need of volunteers to drive our Milk-float or Growmobile to parks and housing estates around Islington. The electric vehicle doubles up as a mobile gardening classroom. Primarily we need volunteers to drive the Growmobile to and from events, however if you are also able to stick around and help out with the gardening workshops then we’d be extra happy!

Requirements: A current DBS A full clean driving licence Time commitment: There is no specific time commitment, we are looking to create a bank of volunteers that we can call on when events are being run. These events take place during the week and at weekends, during the day or in the evenings, therefore we are flexible with the commitment volunteers are able to make.

About the project

Octopus is driven by the collective desire to develop community centres as 'hubs' in the community, where multiple grass-roots services and wide-ranging facilities can be accessed and influenced by the unique needs of diverse communities and local neighbourhoods.

We Can Grow, one of the projects run my Octopus, is working to improve Islington's parks and green spaces, and encouraging people living on housing estates to grow. The aim being for more local people to have fun, enjoy and make better use of these outdoor spaces.
