We have been meeting regularly on Friday mornings for 2 hours of gardening to help people who cannot manage their own gardens due to illness etc. This has involved some very physical work so we have thought of it as a great way to keep fit. As we work in the area we are getting to know more people and find more people to help. We are also doing some work to improve the public realm and will be planting trees in the Spring. We can also host corporate volunteers.
Wear good shoes. Gloves provided but some of our volunteers are preferring to buy they own.
Greening the area between Thessaly Road and Stewarts Road, covered by three estates, Patmore, Carey Gardens and Savona.
Planting fruit tees and bushes to create a community orchard
Running regular gardening workshops - The Potting Shed
Working with schools and community groups
Upskilling around horticulture, upcycling, cooking, healthy eating
Volunteering and helping others
Beneficiaries are the owners of the gardens, but also local people who walk by and see their estate is being tended.
