We are a community run volunteer group that works to manage the Tice's Meadow Nature Reserve, near Badshot Lea in Surrey.
Our project is the construction of a birdwatching shelter and community volunteering hub on the viewing mound on site.
The shelter will be a converted second-hand shipping container, with an innovative bio-diverse "brown roof", bench, community noticeboard, nest boxes and external invertebrate habitat panels.
The shelter will provide respite from the weather for visitors to site, will be fully accessible by wheelchair users and will provide a centrepiece to our volunteer activities on site. The shelter will be a sustainable structure that compliments and enhances the local environment.
Our project is jointly funded by grants from The Greggs Foundation and the Aviva Community Fund.
Volunteering at Tice's Meadow Nature Reserve will benefit the local environment and the wildlife on site. The local community also benefits as we are a community based group of volunteers and a well utilised local nature reserve. Volunteering with the Tice's Meadow Bird Group is rewarding, educational, a good work out, and most of all fun!
