About the opportunity

Waste & Resources, water quality

Caring for our oceans isn’t easy…except for when it is. Did you know… In the UK alone, it is estimated that 800 plastic bottles per MINUTE end up in landfill or as litter. Almost all of London’s water is supplied by Thames Water, and it really is world-class. It scored highest in a blind taste test against bottled water and is safer and more regulated. Why choose anything other than tap? Refill London, a City to Sea initiative, backed by Thames Water and coordinated by Project Dirt, aims to make free tap water refills accessible to members of the public by on-boarding local businesses as Refill Stations. Thirsty passers-by can spot Refill London stickers in the window of Refill Stations, or they can check their Refill app, and pop in to top up their water bottles on the go, avoiding yet more plastic pollution generated by single use plastics. Our mission is to make Refill London HUGE, to do this we need sign up as many Refill Stations as possible – making refill culture as easy, normal and accessible for all. Will you help end #PointlessPlastics ensuring #OneLess plastic bottle reaches our oceans? You can get involved and volunteer in a way that suits you. An Action Day volunteer - a few hours long only, Action Days will be held at key dates and locations across London. A Community Recruiter - be leader of your own pack, hold your own Action Day in your local community and recruit your own volunteers. A Solo Refill Champion - volunteer'n'go, sign up Refill Stations on your lunch break, out shopping, be sent Refill London stickers & posters). About the project

Refill London is about tackling plastic pollution as well as championing our delicious tap water.

Our mission is to make Refill London HUGE, to do this we need YOU to help us sign up as many Refill Stations as possible – making refill culture as easy and normal as possible.

In the UK alone, it is estimated that 800 plastic bottles per MINUTE end up in landfill or as litter, which makes no sense when tap water creates 500 times less co2 than bottled water.

Almost all of London’s water is supplied by Thames Water, and it really is world-class. It scored highest in a blind taste test against bottled water and is safer and more regulated. Why choose anything other than tap right??

Refill London is a City to Sea and Thames Water initiative. All Action Days and volunteering enquiries are coordinated and managed by Project Dirt, who are the Refill London Coordinators.

You can get involved in one of our Action Days, hold your own Action Day, or volunteer as a Solo Champion!

Let's change habits, get drinking tap water and reduce plastic waste! Sign up.
