We are Transition Town Tooting, a voluntary local sustainability group who have been established for ten years. We do lots of creative, enjoyable and thought-provoking things: see http://transitiontowntooting.blogspot.com/ On Sept 15th we are setting up and then running our eleventh annual Tooting Foodival: a community festival of local food, local cooking and eating together. All the details for Foodival 2018 (and past photos from other years) in the blog posts here: http://tootingfoodival.blogspot.com/ For the setup from 0830 to 1100 on Saturday morning 15th Sept, we will be erecting gazebos, putting up tables, sorting out the site in Hereward Road, a closed street outside the event location. There will certainly be some jobs we have not thought of..! We are a friendly group and we'll all be working alongside each other to get set up. After the setup, from 1100 to 500 we'd invite you to volunteer alongside us for as long as you wish to help make the event go smoothly - there is a diverse group of activities (cooking, music, creative sessions) plus the admin side of helping welcome visitors, shifting rubbish, responding to queries or surprises. We'll certainly feed you with delicious locally-grown food. Then after 5:00 we have to take everything down....and pack it away into our van or into the venue.
If it happens to be raining: waterproofs!

We will be copying new postings to the Journal section below.
Foodival visitors / participants are all members of the very diverse local community in Tooting who will experience a fun and sociable event with a sustainability message. They should expand their understanding of what sustainability means in Tooting. They will participate - as they wish - in cooking, feasting, activities, games. They will learn about some campaigns and challenges - for example reducing plastics use; supporting pollinators; outdoor learning They may be inspired to join us in the delivery of future events - we have lots of scope to build on everyone's ideas in developing new projects. They will enjoy the day, the food, the music, the experience.
